County Arborist Advisory Committees

Usually five members, terms co-terminus with the Mayor (includes one ex-officio member, the Director of the Department of Planning and Permitting.)

The County Arborist Advisory Committees research, prepare, and recommend to the City Council trees of exceptional character to be protected by ordinance, advises property owners relative to the preservation and enhancement of "exceptional" trees, reviews all actions deemed necessary by the Council to protect endangered "exceptional" trees, and recommends to the Council appropriate protective ordinances, regulations, and procedures.

The County Arborist Committee is mandated by Act 105, Session Laws of Hawaii 1975.
