Volunteers of Hawaii Launch Aloha Grant Award. The
Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Hawaii (RPCVHI) has recently launched the ALOHA
Grant through the Peace
Corps Partnership Program. The Peace Corps' Partnership Program provides
funding for community-initiated projects being overseen by our volunteers serving
around the world. Since its inception in 1964, the Partnership Program has assisted
thousands of Peace Corps Volunteers, in every Peace Corps country, in order to
benefit the health and well-being of their host communities.

2008 Recipient - Kevin
Kalhoefer, Cambodia Basketball/Volleyball Courts Our objective is
to construct a basketball/volleyball court for the community of 30,000 in Cambodia.
The court will be used by the high schools volleyball, the local community
residents, and a yet to be formed boys and girls basketball teams at the high
school. The court will allow the high school volleyball team to conduct practice
sessions on courts similar to the ones provincial high schools use. With the help
of the high school sports teacher, I also plan to start intramural boys and girls
basketball teams at the high school and, eventually, a school team that can compete
with other high schools within and outside of this province. We will also try
to organize a basketball tournament between the Peace Corps Volunteers who have
basketball teams at their high schools. In addition, training will be provided
to high school staff in coaching and refereeing to ensure community participation
and the sustainability of the basketball team.
